I’m French and there is a famous french movie published in 1966 called the Demoiselles de Rochefort and they always remind me Peach and Daisy. This is pretty uncommon to see such correspondances !

Random Headcanon: The reason that the various Princesses of the Super Mario franchise - Peach, Daisy and Rosalina - look so different from their subjects, and even from other ostensibly human characters like Mario and Luigi, is that “Princess” isn’t a title in the Marioverse: it’s a species.

(Pauline as she appears in Super Mario Odyssey is also a member of this species, though she calls herself something different for political reasons.)
